Taking upper inspiration from the GEL-NIMBUS 3 and the GEL-MC PLUS V, and getting tooling inspiration from the GEL-CUMULUS 16, the ASICS Gel-NYC Smoke Gray offers a high performance running shoe with retro aesthetics.
The Smoke Gray ASICS Gel-NYC built for comfort starts with a base of Smoke Gray mesh that offers lightweight breathability. Smoke Gray leather winds its way all over the upper, and is itself overlaid by cream-colored leather and cream-colored suede at both the mudguard and eyestays. Cream-colored laces help ensure a snug closure over the mesh tongue. Cream-colored undulating foam forms the cushioning midsole that features shiny gray GEL inserts in both the forefoot and heel for ultimate cushioning. This sneaker rides on an outsole created from gray rubber pods situated between deep grooves that offer flexibility.
Our favorite detail on this pair of kicks is the addition of light blue hits on the upper. Light blue suede forms the heel tab and peeks out at the edges of the tongue for a subtle note of whimsy. The ASICS Gel-NYC Smoke Gray was released on April 1, 2024, for a retail price of $130.
