The two-tone color pattern of the Air Jordan 4 Retro Metallic Red (GS) pays homage to the original shape of the AJ1.

The white leather makes up the upper, which is finished with the customary quarter-panel netting on its underlays and an exposed Air sole unit at the heel. University Red is used in contrast on the internal tongue, and molded eyelets, and a metallic red Jumpman logo is printed on the heel and on the woven tongue tag. Its red air bubbles, the red inner lining of the padded tongue with a white Air Jordan text create a contrast to the sneaker's overall design. This sneaker in grade school sizing features red branded insoles with the Jumpman emblem, front lace-up fastening, and a round toe. Additionally, it features a white midsole, and rubber outsole, rounding off its design.
